What is the Shadow Shroud?

Nathan Wilson was an English teacher at a small, mid-western, Fundamentalist Christian college. He was very much convinced that the Shroud was fake because it contradicted his literal interpretation of the Gospel of John. He set out to find a way to create a shroud-like image.

His approach was ingenious. By sun-bleaching unbleached linen with a mask painted on a pane of glass, he was able to create a facial image that looked something like the face on the Shroud.  He was featured on the ABC evening news show and just as was the more recent case with the Associated Press coverage of the Garlaschelli Shroud, many people bought into it. However, it, too, failed to reproduce many of the Shroud’s features, in fact, most of them.
